Designer

This individual will design and coordinate fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. They will design and create the finished representation for fire alarm systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools.  The drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office.  This person will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project including production of construction plans, correcting redlines, creating bill of materials, analyzing changes, solving job related problems, and submitting plans to reviewing authorities.  

Job Responsibilities

• Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project’s alarm system
• Thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities
• Create detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and/or Adobe type programs
• Create a bill of materials required throughout the project
• Maintain design historical records as well as other necessary historical records for future use
• Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers’ expectations
• Ensure work complies with local codes and permits
• Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor or other WSFP management personnel 

Job Qualifications

• Applicable degree from a technical school or college is preferred 
• NICET II certification or higher is a plus
• AutoCAD experience is required 
• Demonstrated ability with Microsoft and PDF editing software is desirable 
• Must be versed in national and local code requirements
• Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
• Detail-oriented and skilled in free hand sketching to bring concept to reality
• Possess excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
• Willing to coordinate and work well with others
• Willing to pass a pre-employment drug screen test, background and reference check
